No analytics, no problem
This site has no tracking script. It does not know how many people read it, where they came from or how long they stayed.
Why leave it out
- Privacy. Visitors do not have to consent to something that does not exist.
- Speed. Not loading a third-party script is the cheapest performance optimisation there is.
- Peace of mind. Numbers invite comparison. A personal blog is better off without a scoreboard.
What you can still know
The web server writes an access log. If you ever need a rough idea of what gets read, the log has it, and it stays on your own machine.
When it would be worth it
If the blog were part of a business and every visit had a cost or a goal, I would measure it, probably with a small privacy-friendly tool. For writing down what I learn, I do not need to.
